no new car for me

With big pages in the new papers, they want us to believe that the financial crisis will pass soon. The aim is to stop us being careful with our money, they want us to spend our money again, for instance to take the risk to buy a new house, or to think about taking a second child. On television our prime minister even told us that we must change our car sooner, we must think of buying a new one, even when the old one still functions well, just to help the market.
Why should I listen to politicians who don’t know the value of art. A society that doesn’t protect its artists. They think we are depressed. And they are right in my case. Since I am in Holland, now to teach for two weeks, I feel depressed only by the fact that I am working in an art academy in a country that cut more than half of the subventions for art two years ago.
And I decided to buy only the essential stuff to live already years ago, because we must stop thinking in economic growth by consuming.
