Es gibt Momente, wo einer zugegeben miserablen Nutzerin von Facebook wie mir dieses umstrittene Medium Freude bereitet. Heute zum Beispiel, wo ich an den Geburtstag von Tim Etchells erinnert werde.
Tim, ein Künstler, den ich seit Beginn meines Arbeitens mit internationaler Performance, viele großartige, lebensverändernde Theatererfahrungen verdanke. Tim, mit dem ich viel und dennoch immer viel zu wenig zusammengearbeitet habe. Er hat 2012 einen wundervollen Text über Festivals, ein “Alphabet of Festivals” geschrieben, der mir in jeder Zeile nahe ist. Ausgehend von der nächtlichen, einsamen Erfahrung eines Künstlers in einem leeren und lieblosen Festivalzentrum, das die Leere und Unbelebtheit durch ohrenbetäubende Musik wettzumachen versucht, träumt er von dem, was ein Festival sein müsste:
