The “New Age” Pyramid At Cesukai, Lithuania

cesukai
Earlier this week I went to Cesukai – a village in southern Lithuania with a population of around ten. It is located in the Dzukija National Park and surrounded by a pine forest. What attracts people to Cesukai is an allegedly bioenergetic pyramid build by a local hipster Povilas Zekas in 2002. The pyramid itself is an open structure with four sides including its base. I prefer pyramids that have five sides including the base.

Since 2009 the Cesukai Pyramid has been encased in a glass dome with curious acoustic properties – it creates a good deal of echo. Zekas constructed the pyramid where it is because he had a mystical experience at the site. He and various others believe the pyramid has healing powers. Water from a well is stored in two huge plastic containers inside the glass dome and given away to those who want it for free.

I found the dome and pyramid pleasant to sit inside but felt I’d have been more energised by a double espresso. The location was beautiful but there was nothing to make it any more special or meaningful than many other places in the world.

While I was at the pyramid, Zekas came out of his house to talk to those visiting his ‘spiritual healing’ project. He seemed like a nice guy of about thirty, and he described his religious beliefs and experiences in a down-to-earth and non-sectarian fashion. Things got more interesting when he moved on to his battles with the municipal authorities who view his glass dome as an illegal structure. The matter has yet to be fully resolved by a court of law.

Since water from wells should be tested regularly for contamination and there was nothing to indicate this had been done in the case of Cesukai, I didn’t drink the bottle of ‘energised’ fluid I took from one of the big plastic containers inside the dome. Instead, after taking a shower, I poured the water over my genitals. If I’d then had a Viagra-like experience I might have been moved to revise my sceptical views about Cesukai – but I didn’t! And I didn’t have potential sex partners coming after me like dogs-on-heat either! I’d have done as well to take a cold shower as collect water from Cesukai!
